Tea Board Chairman Announces Insurance Support for Temi Workers

The Hon’ble Chairman, Tea Board of Sikkim, chaired a special programme organized by the management to counsel workers on various welfare schemes offered by both the State and Central Government. Officials from the State Bank of India, Temi branch, including the Manager and Operations Manager, were also present to explain different schemes available for workers. Among the key schemes discussed were accidental death insurance of ₹2 lakhs with a nominal premium of ₹1 per month, natural death insurance of ₹2 lakhs with a premium of ₹28 per month, and medical insurance coverage of up to ₹1 lakh annually for an affordable premium of about ₹3000.

In a significant welfare decision, the Hon’ble Chairman announced that Temi Tea would cover the premiums for the accidental and natural death insurance schemes, a move warmly welcomed by both management and workers. He emphasized his commitment to work selflessly for the welfare of workers, while also urging them to maintain dedication and motivation in their roles. During the programme, the Chairman also distributed beneficiary items provided by the Labour Department, Government of Sikkim, and expressed his gratitude to Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri P.S. Tamang (Golay), Hon’ble Minister Shri Bedu Singh Panth, and the Labour Department for their support and generosity.
