The International Labour Day was celebrated at Temi Tea Estate on 01.05.2022. The celebration was graced by President, Labour Front, SKM party, Shri Prem Raj Gurung as Chief Guest along with Guest of Honour, Secretary, Commerce and Industries Department, Shri H.K. Sharma accompanied by General Secretary, Labour Front SKM Party, CLC President, Temi Namphing and various State Level SKM dignitaries. The Honb'le Chairman addressed about the various areas of welfare scheme for Tea Garden workers to be planned and implemented by the Tea Board of Sikkim with acknowledgement from the Secretary, C&I Department. The President, Labour Front announced that the SKM party is working towards the development of the State and welfare of workers is the main current mandate where the Government shall implement various schemes and policies aimed towards the welfare and upliftment of poor and working class.

The workers union, Temi Tea placed their grievances and demands and requested the dignitaries for Medical reimbursement benefits, Insurances and Increase in wages as their primary demands. The event also witnessed the distribution of awards for 10 workers who have excelled in plucking the highest quantities of tea leaves for the month of April, 2022. The event also witnessed the celebration and enjoyment of workers and staffs together celebrating and dedicating the day for the hardworking workers of Temi Tea Estate followed by Lunch for all.
